What We Believe

We Believe – the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God; without error in the original writings; the complete revelation of His will for the salvationof men; and the Divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life. 2 Timothy 3:16,17.

We Believe – there is one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternallyexisting in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14.

We Believe – Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of theHoly Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for oursins. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of God the Father, He is now the Head of the church and intercedes for all believers. In the future, He will take the Church – both the dead and living believers – to be with Himself. Later, He will come to Earth to establish His Kingdom. John 14:3; 1 Corinthians 15:51-54; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Matthew 24:29-31; Revelation 20.

We Believe – the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age, to convict those without Christ as their Savoir of their sin and regenerate the believing sinner. He also indwells, guides, instructs, and empowers the believer for Godly living and service. John 16:8-11; Titus 3:5; 1 Corinthians 6:19; Romans 8:4; John 16:12-15; Ephesians 5:18; Galatians 5:22-23.

We Believe – man was created in the image of God, but in Adam’s sin, the human race fell. As a result, man is alienated from God and is utterly unable to remedy his own lost condition. Genesis 1:27; Romans 5:12; Romans 1:18-3:20.

We Believe – salvation includes forgiveness of sin, impartation of a new nature, and assurance of eternal life. It is entirely apart from good works, baptism, church membership or any of man’s efforts. It is of pure grace, received as a gift through faith in Jesus Christ who shed His blood for our sin. Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 5-8.

We Believe – for the believer, the Lord’s Supper and water baptism by immersion are ordinances to be observed by the church during this present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as a means of salvation. Like 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-27; Matthew 28:19; Ephesians 2:8-9.

We Believe – the true Church is composed of all such persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the Body of Christ. Colossians 1:18.

We Believe – Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, and every local church has the right, under Christ, to decide and govern its own affairs according to the Bible.
